What actually sets into a Las Vegas carpet
Two things work against a carpet here that a cleaner in a wetter city rarely has to think about. The valley's playa dust is fine enough to work down past the surface fibers and settle at the base of the pile, and the hard water that fills every bathtub and dishwasher in Las Vegas leaves a mineral residue behind on anything it touches, carpet included. Neither one looks like much from a few feet away. Both build up.
That is why a dry-soil pass matters more here than it would in a humid city, where ordinary foot traffic and a bit of moisture in the air tend to keep dust from packing down as hard. In a house off the valley floor, skipping that step just pushes fine dust deeper into the pile instead of lifting it out, and the carpet looks clean for a week before it looks tired again. The order of operations, dry soil first, is not a preference, it is what the local dust and the local water actually require.

Tile and grout, marble, and rug each take their own chemistry
Carpet, tile and grout, marble, and an oriental rug are four different materials, and treating them the same way is the fastest way to leave one of them worse than it started. Grout is porous and holds soil down in its texture, so it needs a chemistry that gets into that texture and a dwell time long enough to loosen what has packed in. Marble is a stone that etches under the wrong acid and dulls under the wrong scrub, so it is polished, not scrubbed, with a method built for stone rather than for fabric.
An oriental rug is its own case again, dyes and a weave that a carpet-cleaning wand was never built to handle, and it is treated as a separate line item on Blue Bird's own service list rather than folded into a carpet quote. Run one method across all four and the tile grout comes out grey instead of the tile's own color, the marble loses its shine instead of gaining it back, and the rug either doesn't get properly cleaned or gets damaged trying. Each one is quoted and cleaned as what it actually is.
Chapter 03
Upholstery, by the piece, and why the frame decides the method
A sofa, a loveseat, a sectional, an ottoman, a mattress, a chair, and a recliner do not clean the same way even when the fabric on top looks similar, because what is underneath the fabric is what decides how much moisture and agitation the piece can take. A recliner has a mechanism built into the frame that a soaking-wet cleaning method can damage over time. A mattress has fill that traps moisture if it is not treated with that in mind. A tightly upholstered sectional holds its shape differently than a loose-cushioned sofa.

Repair before cleaning: seams, burns, and pet damage
Cleaning a carpet does nothing for a pulled seam, a burn mark, or a spot chewed or scratched through by a pet, and running a cleaning pass over damage like that just wets down a problem that needed a different fix first. Carpet repair is its own line on the floor care book for exactly this reason. A seam that has come apart can usually be re-stretched and re-seamed rather than replaced. A small burn or a worn patch can often be repaired with carpet pulled from a closet or a low-traffic corner of the same room, matched for pile and color rather than patched with something close.
Not everything is repairable in the sense of disappearing. Some damage is only ever a patch, a visible but stable fix rather than an invisible one, and an honest estimate says which case a given spot falls into before any work is booked, not after. That decision, repair first or clean around it, is made at the free in-house estimate, which is where the whole job gets looked at in person rather than priced over the phone.
